Full Stack Developer

AviationManuals, an industry-leading aviation safety group in Rockville, Maryland, is seeking a Programmer to support the team and its worldwide customer base, which includes a number of Fortune 500 companies. This individual will be involved in software and iPad app development, with a primary focus on a proprietary aviation safety management system (SMS) Web application and document automation. This is a unique opportunity to join a small, growing company, which translates to more influence and ownership than many traditional IT roles. Because a highly engaged and motivated team is critical to our continued success, we will consider candidates’ attitude, aptitudes, and ambition in addition to their skills and experience.

A. Principal Responsibilities

  • Software development
  • iPad app development
  • Perform QA checks on your and your colleague’s work
  • Test new features across a variety of browsers and devices (particularly the iPad)

B. Required Qualifications and Experience

  • 2+ years Modern PHP frameworks (e.g., Laravel, Symfony, Zend, etc.) preferably on large object-oriented applications, not one-off website pages
  • 2+ years working with a Relational Database (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, etc.)
  • 2+ years Unix/Linux operating systems (e.g., CentOS, Ubuntu, Mac OS X, etc.)

Operations Manual Specialist

An industry-leading aviation safety group is seeking an entry-level Operations Manual Specialist to support its continued growth. This is an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience in project management and customer support, as well as the business aviation industry and the safety sector. The company develops Safety Management Systems (SMSs), offers proprietary SMS software, and produces operations manuals for thousands of customers. The worldwide customer base and expanding target market includes Fortune 500 flight departments, aircraft management companies, and private owner/operators of business jets.

A. Principal Responsibilities:

  • Verify that all operations manual content is in accordance with applicable regulations, accreditation standards, and industry best practices.
  • Research various topics for customers and team members and concisely present this information via telephone, email, or in person.
  • Copyedit documents for spelling and grammar.
  • Perform content and formatting quality assurance checks.
  • Print, assemble, pack, and ship manuals to customers.
  • Communicate with customers via online meetings, phone calls, and email; provide guidance and status updates as needed.

  • Continuous research and documentation of aviation technical data.

  • Provide expeditious service to operators seeking approval for domestic and/or international operations into NAT HLA, RVSM, RNP-10/4, and P-RNAV airspace, including use of avionics such as Data Link Communications (ADS-C / CPDLC).
